Our Story
A bookstore built by readers, for readers
We started because we noticed something simple: it was hard to find a good bookstore in San José that stocked titles in multiple languages without making you feel like an afterthought. So we built one. Our shelves carry new and used books in English, Spanish, French, German and more — the kind of mix that reflects who actually lives and travels through Costa Rica.
We buy, sell and trade books, vinyl, DVDs and CDs. We know our inventory well and we’re straightforward about what we have and what we can find. If you’re looking for something specific, ask — we’ve tracked down some pretty obscure titles over the years and we enjoy the challenge.
How We Approach Things
We don’t try to be a chain. We curate carefully, rotate stock regularly and keep the space comfortable enough that people actually want to spend time here. When someone comes in unsure of what they want, we ask a few questions and usually land on something they end up enjoying. That part never gets old.
We also take the trade-in side seriously. If you bring in books in good condition, we’ll give you a fair assessment and either buy them outright or offer store credit. Our used section has some genuine finds — the kind of titles you won’t stumble across anywhere else in the city.
Books worth reading are easier to find than you think.
